NOTICE: THIS LETTER CONTAINS IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR KUBIC, K2 AND SURFACE COLLECTION LIGHT FIXTURES

Dear Valued Customer:

Your safety is important to us. Recently, GINGER® discovered that in some instances the glass shade of certain GINGER light fixture collections was not manufactured to proper specifications, and as a result, it is possible that the shade could separate from the fixture base and fall. This potential problem affects only certain Kubic, K2, and Surface collection light fixtures. Due to the fact that these units do not meet its high quality standards for its products, GINGER® has determined to conduct a voluntary recall.

While the risk of injury is remote, because your safety is our first concern, GINGER® voluntarily notified the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission("CPSC") of this problem, and initiated a program to contact customers like you, who may have purchased one or more of the potentially affected light fixtures.

GINGER will issue a replacement glass shade or shades free of charge to each customer who purchased a potentially affected light fixture. The replacement shades will feature a number of quality improvements designed to prevent the identified problem.

The units subject to this voluntary recall were sold between August, 2003 and September, 2004, to commercial accounts and to consumers through select showrooms and retailers nationwide for between $240.00 and $355.00. The light fixtures generally feature a mouthblown glass shade with various sizes of chrome or satin nickel rosettes, some decoratively encircled with wood. The lights can be installed horizontally or vertically. The lights take A19 incandescent bulbs, 100 watt maximum, and meet all applicable UL standards light appliances in damp locations. No screws are used to attach the shades to the base. They are glued to a metal base which screws onto the fixture. No writing is visible on the mounted light fixtures.

For more information on how to determine whether you have a fixture that may be subject to the recall, contact GINGER.

When you contact GINGER to receive your replacement shade(s), our customer service representatives will obtain the necessary information from you, including your mailing address. GINGER will send you replacement shades as needed free of charge, along with instructions on how to replace the new shades for the recalled shades, and a check in the amount of $5.00. The check is our way of saying thank you for your cooperation in our efforts to have only the best quality products in the market and to ensure you have replaced your old shades with the new, improved shades. We do require that you destroy the old shades. You can certify to GINGER that you have destroyed your old shades by redeeming the check included with the replacement shades. Redemption of the check serves as certification by you that you received the replacement shades, and that you have destroyed the recalled shades.
